I thought DeShields was tremendous in the role, but I can imagine many different kinds of performers doing it. (Iain Armitage--if he could sing it!) Hermes is in many ways akin to Jung's notion of the puer (the eternal youth) or the spirit (inspiration, speedy and swift). DeShields brought all that and more, as will others. |
