I should clarify my remarks about the book. I didn't think it was bad. All musicals should have books as strong as Kimberly Akimbo. I just think that compared to the original play by Lindsay-Abair, the tragedy of Kim's condition gets shorter shrift. The addition of the ensemble and a very strong ensemble it is too both in writing and performance lessens her alienation and she did not seem to be as hesitant about accepting Seth's (Jeff in the original play) attention. The ending of the non-musical truly nade me cry. This not as much. Still I adored the musical and if it does move, you can be assured that I will be there to get my tickets. And I will listen to the album if and when it happens repeatedly. So happy I got to see this.
