Oh, I love that take on it! I didn't get the sense he was in love, but I wouldn't rule it out. It definitely seemed iike he wanted to impress Bernardo, and Bernardo wanted none of it.
I went back to R&J to see if there was any analogue to that devastating monologue Bernardo delivers in the moments before his death (something like "does being with a Puerto Rican girl make you feel so good? Make you feel like you've started fresh?") but there's nothing like that for Tybalt. |
