You made me want to go read the play (or re-read it? I can't remember if i read it when it was new, but if not I was very familiar with its existence).
I loved the musical but I can imagine what you're saying being even more in line with what I'd want for the story.
Also I have to say I think the character of the aunt got too much time to shine and steal the scenes. I think as fun as that was, it created an imbalance toward a character who really isn't all that important outside of adding comedy and a necessary if weird plot point(s). |
