| I think if you arrive 50 minutes before the performance, you should not be late seating. | |

| My friends said the lobby was literally packed with the unseated. What's startling: this show has been cancelled. The production knows of the strain and stress to accommodate. It's a hit. They have money. To penalize people who arrive as early as 50 minutes -- that's close to the hour requested -- is appalling. I've experience wonderful protocols at every theater. The gold standard was my return to Hamilton in early October, when our vax status and attendant issues were checked by a circulating team that greeted people joining the line. But even shows that check at point of entry -- Girl From North Country, Trouble in Mind, Dana H -- were efficient and got everyone seated. One show started about 15 minutes rather than 10 minutes after announced curtain. But at Cursed Child -- hard, expensive ticket and long show -- I believe it's inexcusable to be so rigid. Especially this holiday season. | |

| The issue here may be that the show has turned the lobby into an interactive exhibit that encourages the audience to stand and in that area upon arrival, rather than going to their seats. But, I saw the show last month at a crowded performance, and I had no problem being seated even though I arrived at about 15 minutes prior to curtain - and was told by theater staff to enter on 42nd Street, where there was no line. So if that is a data point to go by, I think we’re also looking at Covid staffing shortages. |

| I would guess that if the people in the lobby had made it past the ticket checkers, there would have been some kind of announcement to them that they need to stop looking around and get to their seats because the show is about to start. Audience members don't usually ignore that announcement so I am speculating that the audience was still waiting to be processed. You may be right that they just don't have enough staff to process the line efficiently. Prior to the pandemic, HP opened its door very early and encouraged patrons to come early to look around. So they know (or knew) how to get people into their seats. I agree with Ann that if audience members are in line 50 minutes before curtain time, it's reasonable for them to expect that they will be able to be in their seat before the show starts. |

| Wonder why they don't schedule the show start time for a half hour earlier in order to allow the extra processing time, if the goal is to get union tech crew done before 11 p.m. And/or, if they can get enough staff (maybe they can't), try to implement HAMILTON's way of checking in people. | |

| They could start earlier on some days, but not on their two-show days. As it is, there isn't really enough time between the shows to give the crew their full break. Really, the show should just scrap the first 20 minutes and start with the true Inciting Incident of the one-part play, which is Harry and Albus' fight, which would bring the show closer to 3 hours... but the original authors are so wedded to the idea of beginning in the train station, and of course they'd lose the fan service of the sorting hat. But, really, the show as a whole doesn't kick into gear until the end of the first act (which used to be the end of the first part), and we don't need nearly as much of Hogwarts as they've left in. |
