Wonder why they don't schedule the show start time for a half hour earlier in order to allow the extra processing time, if the goal is to get union tech crew done before 11 p.m. And/or, if they can get enough staff (maybe they can't), try to implement HAMILTON's way of checking in people.

They could start earlier on some days, but not on their two-show days. As it is, there isn't really enough time between the shows to give the crew their full break.

Really, the show should just scrap the first 20 minutes and start with the true Inciting Incident of the one-part play, which is Harry and Albus' fight, which would bring the show closer to 3 hours... but the original authors are so wedded to the idea of beginning in the train station, and of course they'd lose the fan service of the sorting hat. But, really, the show as a whole doesn't kick into gear until the end of the first act (which used to be the end of the first part), and we don't need nearly as much of Hogwarts as they've left in.
