During the performance last night I kept thinking it must have been wonderful in the Armory. I loved the surprising intimacy of the Nederlander (which I still think of as the Billy Rose), however, so that is not a complaint.

I would see it again if the NT screening were to shown somewhere, but I only rationalized shelling out so much for it because I have spent less on theatre in the past 21 months than I had at any time in my adult life -- allowing for inflation, that is.

And I don't doubt it was the best you saw in 2021, BroadwayTonyJ. It was superb.

I think the Armory is a horrible place to see a play unless you are willing to pay the higher prices. A cold, soulless venue. Having said that, I did see The Lehman Trilogy at the Armory and for some reason my reasonably priced seat turned out to be close to the stage.

I occasionally had some obstruction because I was sitting to the right of the metal framework of the set. But for the most part I enjoyed the great acting though the third act did not engage me as much as the other two acts.

I wasn’t planning on returning but I won the lottery for Saturday night so I will be seeing once again. I don’t know if the seat will be any good.

Two other shows I saw at the Park Armory were very good but I was fairly far from the stage which I hated: The Hairy Ape and Branagh’s Macbeth.

Congratulations! I'm glad you won the lottery. The Lehman Trilogy is such an incredible play. When I won the lottery for it back on Sat., 10/09/21, I was seated in D 25 in the left mezzanine. It was a good seat for that theater. Good luck and have a great New Year!

I'll respond to your e-mail tomorrow morning and I will copy Lynn. I hope you had a good Christmas.

I am enjoying reading your comments, TheOtherOne. I'm glad you found it as thrilling a play as I did. Full disclosure: I entered the lottery for The Lehman Trilogy. At first, I was told that I had lost so I purchased a full-price ticket. Then I was sent an e-mail saying that one of the winners had declined so I ended up winning after all. The box office congratulated me and issued me a credit for my purchase.

I had a nice, extended conversation with Adrian Lester in front of the theater after the show. I told him I enjoyed his performance in Company when I was in London in '96 and also was able to see him in The Tragedy of Hamlet at Chicago Shakespeare some years later. We had a very nice chat.

Now I want a chance to see a screening of Andrew Scott in “Present Laughter.”

I saw the NT screening of Present Laughter in a theater. It was a total delight. I would like to see their recording of All My Sons.

I've loved Andrew Scott in so much, but I felt like that production of Present Laughter started at 11 and had nowhere else to go—everything was equally OTT.
