I've seen a few reviews of the tour that relaunched three weeks ago, and I've detected a common theme. The reviewers had not seen the show before, and had either seen the film or read quite a bit about the film. The common theme seems to be something like this: "Wow. after seeing/hearing about the film, I never expected the show to be this good!"
So while the film suffered greatly (and justifiably) when compared to the show, the show now touring seems to be exceeding the expectations of those familiar, one way or the other, with the film. |
