| Does the current revival of The Music Man put Shipoopi back where it goes? The last revival moved it to the ice cream social in the park (mirroring the movie), but that placement has always bothered me. It doesn't make sense for Harold and Marian to dance the Shipoopi together BEFORE they meet at the foot bridge. Wouldn't they just walk over the footbridge together then? Or maybe detour to somewhere else now that they've met up by accident somewhere OTHER than the footbridge? This dance number makes MUCH more sense in its original placement, during Eulalie MacKecknie Shinn's rehearsal in the gym towards the beginning of Act 2. |
