CLYDE'S

A few questions:

I believe it has started streaming. Where do I find details on how to watch? What does it cost? Is it only live or can it be viewed at any time the viewer wishes? Has anyone seen the stream who wishes to comment here? Even better if you saw it both in the flesh and onscreen.

Thanks!

Go to https://2st.com/ and select simulcast tickets. It costs $65 for one performance.

I watched yesterday. Two understudies were in. I believe one of them was Kevin Kenerly (apologies if I got that wrong) and his speaking voice is the kind you want to hear read the phone book.

I believe you have to watch it real time. I did. The play started at least 15 minutes late. (Is that true of many shows these days due to covid protocols?)

A couple days ago someone compared it to a sitcom. That seems a little dismissive but I also was not as moved as Jesse Green was. Still, to watch a current Broadway show from home was nice, particularly during omicron and the play held my interest. And to discover a new actor I want to see in the future… well, all in all it was money well spent.

Is there any provision for refunds/rescheduling if, for example, both Uzo Adubo and Ron Cephas Jones were out. I can see that it might be technically difficult to refund the streaming payment, but perhaps a second performance could be made viewable in addition to that performance. If nothing else, it would provide an opportunity to appreciate the understudy.

I’m sure you can reach out. They seem pretty accommodating. However to be clear, I really liked the understudy for Ron Cephas Jones and in no way felt like an understudy. He commanded the stage with his scenes. Admittedly I didn’t see Jones. But maybe I’ll give it another go.

I plan to view the streaming option, but I really would like to see Edmund Donovan.

Are any of the actors above the title?

I don't think so. But of course that's not a hard and fast rule. Plus, you're not asking for a refund; you'd just like to see a second performance.

I have tickets for next Tuesday's simulcast.

None of the actors are above the title. I would agree that a refund is unlikely, but I'm hoping Second Stage might consider letting us see the show on a different day if our favorite performer was out. But I don't know if that's easy or hard for them to do.

standingO, thanks for the info. Did you know that there were understudies beforehand? Understudies are fantastic, but I'd like to see Edmund Donovan and Ron Cephas Jones if I can.

Yea, they put up two slates (one for each of two understudies) just before the show started.
Although I kinda wish it came at the end as well. I had to look up the understudies online via ibdb.
