| RATTLESTICK PLAYWRIGHTS THEATER PRESENTS "ADDRESSLESS" A VIRTUAL AND INTERACTIVE THEATRICAL GAME ABOUT HOUSING INSECURITY BY PLAYWRIGHT JONATHAN PAYNE (OPAL ROOT, THE BRIAR PATCH) & HUNGARIAN CREATOR/DIRECTOR MARTIN BOROSS (ARTISTIC DIRECTOR OF STEREO AKT) New York, NY - After two successful production launches, Rattlestick Playwrights Theater has announced the latest production from their season lineup titled "Addressless" by Playwright Jonathan Payne and Director Martin Boross. Addressless is an interactive, real life strategy and theatrical game starring actors Bianca Norwood (Plano) and Joey Auzenne (Wu Tang: An American Saga, New Amsterdam ), social worker Hope Beaver and former homeless activist Shams DaBaron. This combination of recorded performances with live-game elements and interactive discussion is testament to Rattlestick's unwavering push for inclusivity and widespread accessibility. "As I evolve in my activism, and continue along my journey toward ending homelessness, I'm pleased to have an opportunity to use the arts to educate and entertain others on what the experience of being homelessness is like. When I first stood up to defend myself and the men of the Lucerne in 2020, I never imagined that I would end up acting in an off-Broadway play. Playing the character of "Wallace" is a challenge because it's like I'm reliving my own experience but at the same time it allows me to channel that experience in a creative and fun way. It's my hope that my fellow homeless and formerly homeless Brothers and Sisters will draw inspiration from me, and know that they can defy the stigmas of being homeless and do great things." - Shams DaBaron Originally created and performed in Hungary, Addressless has been reworked to speak to the growing issue of housing insecurity in New York City while aiming to shift the narratives surrounding homelessness. The audience is split into 3 groups where each group is assigned an 'avatar' and the audience will follow and make a series of decisions over the course of the game. While some decisions might earn the character money, those decisions may also take a toll on their avatar's life expectancy and physical wellbeing. Each decision will lead to a new outcome and the end goal of this 'game' is to make mindful decisions that will secure permanent housing for your 'avatar' and lead to the betterment of your avatar's life. Rattlestick Playwrights Theater has collaborated with Hungarian theatre collective - STEREO AKT (founded by Martin Boross) for the global premiere of Addressless in addition to community organizations Urban Pathways and Community Access. Their collective goal is to educate and spotlight the housing insecurity in New York City. Additionally, to ensure that the ticket prices are not a barrier to participation, Friday performances will be pay-what-you-can and Rattlestick will hold (5) complimentary tickets for each performance for those directly affected by housing insecurity.
