I've felt that way about so many pieces that others love ("Book of Mormon*" exhausted and depleted me by the middle of act two; it was finally witless and disturbingly ugly to my eyes and ears. And I like the score). We're all unable to feel anything -- but what we feel.
*Please don't tell me the ways that Book of Mormon is superior craftsmanship to Sunset. I'm talking personal response to the imagery in text and songs. |
