I have heard some very scabrous things about Peter Dinklage in CYRANO and also some rumblings about what comes off as arrogance and superiority. There seems to be a lot of hate for this project, perhaps because people have a strong relationship with the source material. Interested to see it.
Hudson did seem out-of-the-blue. I've never found her a compelling actress but given that she was handpicked by Aretha herself, I'm happy to give her the benefit of the doubt.
West Side Story not getting an ensemble award seems like a shock. It is so well-acted by so many (even the much-maligned Ansel Elgort) that it seemed a no-brainer.
Moreno is also a big shock given what a notable performance it is in terms of age and association with the original film.
In the end, all awards shows are going to frustrate a certain segment of the public :).
Personally I miss the days when the BAFTA's were just for actual British films. There were always more than enough great films from across the UK and I would think some of them benefitted greatly from the publicity. Many are now forgotten in lieu of films like West Side.
