Awkward Audience Rewards Birthday Email

Sending a greeting from the cast of a show that closes in four days doesn't make a lot of sense even if it was recorded some time ago.

What’s “awkward” about it? Seems like a nice gesture by AR and the show.

Audience Rewards is part of the Schubert Organization and is a marketing and loyalty scheme to drive business to their theaters and other select mostly NYC venues.
Sending a marketing email a few days before a show is closing is an unusual and potentially awkward way to drive business.
My best guess is that the email was queued up prior to the show announcing its closing and someone didn't bother to cancel the queue.
And no, Audience Rewards rarely has affiliations with touring companies.
