I basically loved the whole thing, though I felt eventually it stopped exploring the potential of the concept which was a bit disappointing, and I'd say the first 3 I loved and the last 3 I liked. Maybe I ended up loving the final episode? I can't remember.

But I believe, if i'm not misremembering, Schmigadoon was originally meant to be a movie or a 3 episode super-mini series -- i can't remember which, but I'm pretty sure the Studio considered both at some point. That's why a lot of the episodes don't end the way most tv episodes might, crafted to get to a certain place and tee you up to watch the next one, rather, as I recall, a lot of them just kind of stopped and picked up again in the next episode.

Personally, I think it might have worked better as a 3 part series so each episode had 40-45 min to bring you in, and get in at least 3 songs, or as a 2 hour movie, which it basically is being six 20-ish minute long episodes.
I think had a network like NBC or ABC gotten behind it and run it as a special event movie, starring TV and movie stars like Cecily Strong, Keegan Michael-Key, Kristen Chenoweth, and Alan Cumming and Jane Krakowski thrown in... it might have done much better and gotten much more attention. But maybe the concept and the references are too niche to chance on a 3 hour primetime slot on a broadcast network.

I also wonder what it would be like if it were revived as a live TV event musical, done on an old fashioned movie sound stage (with the beginning of the pilot, and the flashbacks, done single cam, pre-tape). I dunno, could be fun!
