no change in protocols. In addition to the variety of reasons already articulated, when Omicron first arrived, a lot of productions were caught flat footed in terms of coverage. Now there are understudies and swings who are actually prepared to go on, and a network of backups has also been created where needed. Additionally, people are being MUCH more cautious out of work and a very large part of the population (and even a much greater proportion of Broadway people) has already been infected. There is no way the data will ever catch up with what happened, but I believe a majority of people in the city have had omicron. I was taken by surprise when I tested positive, I was only tested situationally, and throughout my quarantine I never had a symptom of any kind. Many many people pass into, through, and out of omicron in blissful ignorance (whilst they infect a bunch of others). As others have said, the fact that virtually everyone is vaccinated makes this into a new phenomenon.

Excellent points, all. I repeated a show for the first time back this season, Girl/North Country, and though the first time I saw 2 major players replaced, including Winningham, out for about 9 shows, this time the full company was in. Anecdotal evidence only, but I suspect this show, expertly covered -- they've had zero cancellations -- is exemplary of how they've managed when positive tests run through a company*. Sadly of course, the run ends Sunday.

*similar experience Saturday at Mockingbird, with both Kinnear and Braugher out; both roles stunningly performed (Christopher Innvar, Yaegel T. Welch)
