When the history of this season is written, let's reserve a chapter for ushers and house management.

Generally, yes. But I do have to give very poor marks to an usher recently for the Fiddler On The Roof tour in Boston. A man with a rather loud high-pitched nasal voice, who was yelling at several different people to turn their phones off while the opening violin solo was playing. I understand that he's surely told to target people who still have phones on at the start of the show, but his manner was, IMO, much ruder than I feel it needed to be, and he was absolutely disrupting the show more than the cellphones were. (Both patrons, in different rows, also tried to quietly tell him that they were already in the middle of turning their phones off.) I came very close to yelling back at him for ruining the top of the show - but I held my tongue, and like Yente, suffered in silence. I refused to make things any worse, certainly. (The production was very good, btw.)

But yes - most house staff and ushers I've encountered do their job responsibly and efficiently, and I've appreciated so many ushers who seem to truly be friendly and happy to be part of the experience. And they are always underappreciated. So yes, let's lift the good ones up.
