Actually it seems we’re both wrong, and this is a bit of an urban myth. The Q&A with a Times copy editor here discusses it (you have to scroll way down in the article to find the reference).
Seems “Mr. Loaf” was in a headline of a movie review by Stephen Holden, but it was phrased as a tongue-in-cheek question. |
