| I'm not sure why it affects me so deeply every time I see it, but this past Wed. matinee, I was a puddle of tears. Perfection | |

| I went into it knowing very little, expecting nothing. I'm glad I hadn't read this thread with people confessing to the tears, then I might have been expecting and waiting to be impressed by its emotional impact on me -- or disappointed when it didn't come. I loved it bit by bit. The voices, the arrangements, the world of it... but I never quite knew what it was being or coming together to be. Whatever it was, it really worked on me. I was taken with the whole thing, and ended up sobbing by the last scene, not entirely sure why. |

| It reveals itself slowly. It's one of those shows you only really see looking back at it. For these impatient times, maybe not a fit. It was the last show I saw before shutdown, the night before. I remember being a bit at sea before I realised what it was doing, and why, and how. |

| I was at the Wednesday matinee, too. My 2nd time. I was so shaken (Winningham had been out the first time), I came home and bought a ticket to the closing. It was impulsive, but I don't regret it. I don't believe the show will return, and the quick view of all the seats available for this Sunday perhaps explains why. The piece's power over me remains mysterious. |

| I saw it at the Public over two years ago (or is it over three years ago now? I don't remember) and just bought tickets to the closing performance at the Belasco. A fondness for the cast recording and the many posts in its favor on All That Chat encouraged my return. I, too, doubt that it will be back, but I hope it finds a new home in the future. | |
