Regardless of how MBG defines it (and I think they have it right), the dictionary says "woke" means "sensitive to social injustice." A starting point in the process of understanding why your connotation - and if you intended nothing disparaging then by all means disabuse us of that misapprehension - drew attention is to ponder that meaning.
