The depiction of New York is accurate (aside from its progressive racial fantasia), but we’re seeing a very specific, limited slice of it. Just like today, some neighborhoods are clean and safe while others are neglected and sketchy/dangerous. Perhaps the show will one day take us down to the Bowery or Tammany Hall, rather than sticking to Fifth Avenue in the 50s and 60s.
