I completely disagree!
We saw the show on our trip to NYC last week (along with Harry Potter and Moulin Rouge) and we loved it. My experience with Company goes back to the original run with Larry Kert and many revivals since.
I was very dubious about the gender switch and thought the idea was would be just silly. After about 5 minutes I was all in. In many ways it makes perfect sense and works fine. I shortly forgot all about it and my daughter, who had never seen the show, didn't know about it until I told her after the show.
I do agree the Side By Side number was badly done, but all the rest was wonderful.
I strongly urge people to see it and I think they will have a great time. The audience at our performance- (January 18th) certainly liked it. |
