My very first musical was Bells Are Ringing. I was about 14 and went into Manhattan on the subway, bought a standing room ticket for $2.00 at the Shubert and saw the wonderful Judy Holliday as Ella Peterson of Susanswerphone. I wrote my first fan letter, sent it to her and was very thrilled to receive an autographed picture and a note card from her. It made me a theater fan forever, and as I begin my 80th year and over 65 years of seeing hundreds of musicals and plays and collecting cast recordings from most of them, I can't tell you how much Broadway and touring companies have meant to me. So many great shows and stars and a lifetime of magical memories.
