THE MUSIC MAN was my very first Broadway show. My Playbill has a date of March 30, 1959, and lists most of the original cast except for Eddie Hodges who was replaced by Paul O'Keefe (who later played Patty Duke's brother on her TV show). Funny that I can recall so much of it like it was yesterday. Preston and Cook were the perfect pair to introduce me to Broadway's very best. Unfortunately, the revival with Dick Van Dyke was disappointing because he was miscast in the role. I hope PBS records the show since I have no interest in paying the ticket prices for the current revival. It just isn't worth it for me.
