I agree. Thank you for saying this. I was surprised when he won the Tony for "One Man..." over actors in roles with more gravitas, but then saw the NT cinema screening and thought he was superb. And I had forgotten (until I read about his background) that he gave a very deft and smart performance in "The History Boys." I don't follow his late night show (I'm too old to stay up for it), but I enjoyed his hosting on the Tonys. I can understand not liking his kind of comedy (I think people's responses to farceurs is often very personal--some hate Gleason--I loved his work--some adore Costello--I disliked him). Maybe something Freudian--how he experience the "aggression" of each comic?
