| If I wanted to read about Jackson's misdeeds, I would do it - but I wouldn't be looking for information about it on the pages of the notoriously exploitative tabloid Sun - or here, for that matter. I don't choose to read about "Jackson’s penis and buttocks" or referring to "Jacko masterbating" [sic] a child, as it is referred to in the article you linked to. Your invitation to "Scroll down……to see a chart of victims." is essentially clickbait...and then you link to The Sun, with its screaming National Enquirer style headlines. "The NY Times review certainly thought it had to do with theater." The NY Times is a newspaper. Discussions appropriate for a news organization are not necessarily appropriate for a theater message board. "It's sickening. I won't stay silent on the matter. Why, you may ask? #MeToo." I don't need to ask. You discussed your abuse repeatedly and at length here, in 3 threads about another performer. 3 threads that were eventually deleted, for good reason "Their names aren't dirty little details. And there have been many news articles and documentaries about these boys, now men. I hope if anything bad ever happens to you that people don't call you 'a dirty little detail'." That is a gross and unfair representation of what I said. I don't minimize what these young men endured. Also, you don't know me nor what I've been through. It is quite frankly offensive that you suggest that I haven't had "bad things" happen to me because I don't choose to air them here. I have worked through my many traumas. I'm sorry for the abuse you experienced. I simply don't think a theater message board is the best place for us to discuss them. I don't think anyone is better off for it. I come here to talk about theater. Full stop. Larger discussions of abuse ought certainly to be had, but they don't belong here, imo. |
