| Agreed. I saw him early in his career in History Boys. Like the rest of that exemplary company, he was superb, and disappeared into his role. And his Tony winning performance in One Man, Two Guvnors -- though closer to the persona we now know -- was the expert work of a farceur. If he's overexposed in other media -- no argument -- the stage would be a logical place to return, the work he chooses likely invigorating him creatively, away from a fickle pop culture. Full disclosure, I found him insufferable in The Prom, but then I'm no fan of that piece's dramatis personae. |
