I'm cautiously optimistic about this casting. I heard great things about Fantasia's Celie. The only thing I'd seen her act in was some awful tv movie years ago, where she was stiff and awkward even by Lifetime TV movie standards. Yet, put her on stage in a musical and people called her a natural actress. Curious to see her take on the role and if she will be more comfortable acting in front of a camera.
