In terms of The Daily Mail, their worldview is garbage, but they didn't make up the story nor the facts involved. Just because they reported it doesn't make the story itself incorrect or racist.
The Daily Mail usually doesn't make up stories. They take stories with some factual basis and twist them into racist memes. Not questioning their part in the chain of communication helps them.
But now I see that while you're going down this rabbit hole with me, you're also responding to MBG that Variety itself is also right-wing, which should discredit Variety. So, looks like you're looking for anything you can to discredit the source and prevent us from talking about this musical's depiction of Jackson.
