The concert-style feel of the show? I'm not sure what production you saw, but I would never think to describe the Broadway production of DEH as "concert style".
I had many issues with the direction of the movie... but it was pretty solidly a movie of the stage show. Not a well directed one, but it was that to me. In fact I can't think of many, or maybe any, musicals recently that are more conventionally narrative than DEH. What am I missing?
