I didn't mean to imply that all the characters had to be singing the same melody.
And I didn't think you implied that either lol. What I meant was that in typical counterpoint, parts aren't always their own distinctive "melodies" as much as they are simply derived to fit with the main tune. In the case of these kinds of songs, these are all tunes that work independently as well as fitting together. A subtle difference maybe, but an important one. |
