Yeah there's a version of reality that is barely maybe believable where all the same things that happened in real life happened and Brooks still never met Oprah. But like I said, there are pictures of them together, and I'd be very surprised if the documentary Oprah's company made and aired about the revival, supposedly largely focused on Brooks, doesn't have footage of Oprah with her even for a minute. (but also, I have to say I don't believe it's possible that Oprah produced a revival of a musical she produced originally, of a famous movie she co-starred in and was Oscar nominated for, from a book she loves and promotes so much .... and that her own TV network made a doc special ABOUT this, focusing on Brooks, who plays Oprah's role... and not once would Oprah have met her properly, even at the opening night of said revival she produced, which she attended. None of this means she wouldn't be asked to audition for the film of it, but I just dont' believe they never met before this facetime)

But the Ripely N2N story is wild. As is the idea the that they wanted to take that particular Little Shop to broadway but then decided to scrap the director of it and potentially the cast (and then didn't hire Audrey, the most important casting in the show).

I can see Brooks needing to be seen by the film's director, but I'd think it would be more of a screen test for them. She more than proved herself in the role and as a screen professional. But it also could have been a formality.
