I'm admittedly out of touch with Encanto, but I assume from what I've read (that it's a big group number) that the version of Bruno that is making it on the charts is the one from the actual film as opposed to a pop version, is that right?
If so, its success is even more impressive. Aside from Let It Go--which interestingly charted with Menzel's version as opposed to the pop version by Demi Lovato--all of the others above had huge pop singers behind them.
My fave song from this era when Disney movies were basically broadway musicals is Part of Your World. It's beloved among many I know. I am surprised it didn't make the cut. Although I am sure Jodi Benson's version would have been deemed too "broadway" for the pop charts, I wonder if they made or considered a pop star version? |
