| A revival revived. Just when it’s about to finally expire, this lifeless heap of banalities jolts to improbable attention. Joshua Henry, here truly a brother from another planet, wrests THE TAP DANCE KID from its makers and effectively re-writes it in seven minutes. It’s a sheer and brilliant display of musical theatre performance craft that wrests a searing history lesson from a dull and desultory situation comedy. Beyond this signal achievement, THE TAP DANCE KID has nearly nothing to recommend it. It’s basically a nap. Until, at eleven o’clock, it isn’t. | |
