Look at the other nominees. The Razzie's have become primarily a thing to punch-up at stars who need to be taken down a notch, who are popular to hate (for right or wrong reasons at the time), or good actors who have given notably bad performances or stars who chose terrible projects and did badly in them. Nominating a supporting actor from the filmed stage production of Diana against people like Mel Gibson, Ben Affleck, Nick Canon, and Jared Leto - and in the films they got their Razzie noms for -- is just ridiculous and inconsistent. There are certainly worse featured male performances in movies last year than those 4 famous people this year... the goal was picking on famous and successful actors making bad choices and giving hilariously subpar performances. Not actually nominating the worst of all films or filmed-things eligible.
They nominated Diana to be funny. But i think for the people nominated it's cruel, especially since they didn't even give performances FOR film, they gave them for stage, and in a universally agreed upon mediocre-to-bad musical.
But sure, technically, they're within their jurisdiction to nominate Diana. Good for them. |
