| I know this is a bit random, but YouTube served me The Charleston from Billion Dollar Baby (via Jerome Robbins' Broadway) tonight. I've only seen grainy YouTube videos of the production and had never listened to the cast recording before. I found myself enraptured by the sound of this performance -- the orchestration is lush and simultaneously dazzling in its syncopated rhythm. The "post scream" passage from about 3:47 on is especially wonderful with those gorgeous, dizzying strings and woodwinds spiraling and punctuated by the brass and rhythm section. It feels like the orchestra could careen out of control at any moment, but, of course they're all perfectly, precisely in control (under the baton of Paul Gemignani.) Any recommendations for specific tracks/songs/instrumentals on other recordings that achieve a similar sound.... experience for a better lack of a term? Another track that seems to achieve this sound is the Carnegie Hall Pavane from Bernstein's On the Town (especially on the glorious 2014 revival cast recording) |

| The Charleston from Jerome Robbin's Broadway is one of my all-time favorite tracks. I have a question though, there is a "lyric" that I have never been able to make out.... Mind your own beeswax. Don't be an ________ (???) So's your Aunt Tillie. What is the word I can't understand in "Don't be an ???". Over all these years I've never been able to make it out. |

| I knew someone in the show and she would say that to me all the time (instead of a**hole). Always with love. Always. | |
