| I completely agree about the size of the role and that Mandy’s voice is strong. I saw her in the role in the fall of 2016 and really felt that she only able to belt and project a strong demeanor. Goldsberry really elevated the role with many vocal timbres and her appealing presence. Without these qualities the competition with Eliza just didn’t work for me and the dynamic between Angelica and Alexander was not believable. Almost 6 yrs later I just can’t bring myself to see the show again with such a pivotal (although not much stage time) character portrayed in the same way. I’m truly waiting for a cast change and I think it’s time. |
