I COMPLETELY disagree.
This was the only time I've ever been moved to actual tears by the end of WSS... I have always loved the show, and what it does, and everything about it, but I've neevr been moved by the ending, other than as an element of my deep respect for the whole piece.
In this film, I forgot about the academic and analytical side of my love and simply wept with Maria... her speech, ddelivered expertly by Ziegler, took on new life in the context created by Kushner, and it was spectactualr.
Similarly, I thought the repurposing of "Cool" to be one of the most brilliant ideas I've ever seen. So clever. |
