| It was also known as The Field Studies Center of New York. It was run by Barbara and Lloyd Meeker. This was in the 70s and early 80s. My high school "drama" class would take annual trips to NYC and the coordinated the itinerary. One fascinating thing they arranged was backstage tours of Broadway shows. I remember we would go into a theatre in the morning and we would first discuss the economics of Broadway and then we would be allowed to wander the theatre. We were even allowed to wander backstage and I distinctly remember walking all over the set for the original production of CHICAGO. I had a neat picture of me standing on one of the staircases of the set but I lost the picture long ago. What a fascinating experience that I took for granted at the time. According to the linked article a ticket for this experience cost $3.75 back in 1976. |
