Something seems off on the timeline. Based on the limited language mentioned in the article - the producers almost certain had the ability to recast them if the production took a different turn or they did honestly feel they needed actors with other qualities. What doesn't make sense is them offering them something to walk away (understandable to just end it cleanly) but then sending over long term contracts. Why would they send them contracts if they decided they wanted to replace them?
