| I was thinking recently that Peter Marks has emerged as the best critic since the great shutdown. To me, this review cements that judgment. It's everything you want a review to be. It is very well crafted and written, it's on point (whether you agree with that point or not [I do]) and keenly observed, and it's about the fucking show. | |

| I agree. The piece is extremely well written, as is always the case with Marks. Bring him to the Times! | |

| He worked at the NYT in the 90s/early 00s back when the theatre coverage was much better than it is today. I remember a time where I would spend large parts of my weekend reading the arts coverage and magazine. Not so much these days. | |

| Astute, this: "The townsfolk, perversely, seem foolish, not funny." Important distinction about a show that portrays its citizenry with affection. | |
