Chuck that was before the show opened. I spoke to the house manager and was told these are now lottery seats. That of course could change. Last night's show seemed to be almost sold out. From my box seat I counted no more than 7 empty seats.

Doesn’t mean it wasn’t sold and person didn’t show up. Usually boxoffice puts out a notice outside if performance is sold out.

and not sold for the astronomical price Stubhub had it listed for. Dramedy now a days we rarely see the box office, as you know, because we are shuttled in like cattle into the theatre. We enter sometimes from side doors after our papers are checked, bags opened, and hands stamped. And most of all mask covering the nose. It reminds one of another time in history not all that long ago.

I’m hoping this doesn’t mean the way it reads.

So I don’t know the new protocols for entering theater. I did see a picture outside MJ where it was posted sold out. I’ve only been to 4 shows locally that used the normal entrances.

I was on the second Atlantis January cruise with 1800 guys (mostly) and no covid cases! I saw lots of shows (mostly drag shows and acrobat Air-otica) on board with mask. The Norwegian cruise line entertainment were not on board—I heard they don’t return until April.

It depends on the theatre and I must admit things move along quickly. The use of masks are enforced and audiences seem to deal with the situation. Saw Prayer for the French Republic a few days ago and for almost 3:15 the mask didn't bother me.

What Broadway show are you seeing where they stamp your hand??

As for the rest, the fact that not a single infection has been traced to a Broadway audience suggests that these protocols are working. But you're right that it reminds me of another time in history: 2009, when I had to show that I was vaccinated against measles in order to go to grad school. Or 1985, when I had to show that I'd been inoculated against polio to go to kindergarten. Scary times indeed.

Broadway Hand-Stamping & 50's Proof of Polio Vax

When I saw Harry Potter a week and a half ago on Wed., 2/2/2022, the vax checkers outside the Lyric stamped my left hand.

In 1954 when I (as a 1st grader) was inoculated against polio at St. Dionysius Catholic School in Cicero, IL, we were given a scapular-like chain to be worn around the neck, which was proof of vaccination. In order to be admitted to crowded venues like Wrigley Field, Comiskey Park, or Riverview Amusement Park, you had to show your polio chain.

BTW when I saw MJ at the Thurs. matinee on 2/3/2022, sitting in the mid-mezzanine, I could see that there were a lot of empty seats on this level, probably around 75% full. The first floor, however, did look to be sold out.

CORRECTION regarding hand-stamping: Should read MJ on Thurs., 2/3/2022 at the Neil Simon and not HARRY POTTER on Wed., 2/2/2022 at the Lyric (nmi)

They checked my ID and vaccinate cards then stamped my right hand with black ink. Then went through a small leather bag I had as I walked into the far side entrance at the Neil Simeon Thea. wearing my mask over the nose. At another show I had a wrist band.
