| "It’s a question we’re going to be pondering for a very, very long time: How did the starry, big-budget, eagerly-anticipated Broadway revival of 'The Music Man' turn into such a bloated, boring, uninspired, absolutely maddening letdown?" | |

| That being said, I think Mr. Windman needs an editor. Or at least to reread his own copy before it's published. Nobody noticed he uses "That being said..." in consecutive paragraphs? An expression that made the recent list of phrases that should be banished... | |

| The critic writes: "That being said, many have recently questioned whether the show is out of place in the current political and cultural environment." Yes, I suppose the story of a con artist fooling the population with oversized promises which he can't deliver, and masking the illusion with showbiz pizzazz, is simply old hat. Strange...I thought that was what salesmanship, promotion and politics has always been about. The theme is perennial, isn't it? |

| I think there's more than one way to be "out of place." Maybe it's hitting too close to home and one can't escape the "current political and cultural environment" to enjoy this musical without thinking of the negative aspects of a con artist fooling a population. | |
