Preface: Nobody knows anything.

Educated guess: Music Man will remain a respectable hit, but not Hello, Dolly! Tickets will be available. The model may be more, say, second year To Kill a Mockingbird. Discounts will be assiduously avoided to serve the brand, but prices may creep down.

Even so, the reviews we're parsing may be irrelevant a month from now. Or by summer. They have pull quotes, and money will be spent. Oh, much money will be spent telling us how good it is.

In closing: Nobody knows anything.

The reviews have good pull quotes, but nothing that suggests the show is worth what they’re charging. That’s going to be the rub for them, at least in terms of selling new tickets.

I'll be curious to see how the prices are adjusted. Someone with more knowledge of dynamic pricing and brand maintenance -- and this production is all about a specific brand of Broadway entertainment -- can explain (zero knowledge here). If you set up a show as an event, and charge event prices -- Hamilton, Dolly, Six -- how do you segue back toward normal Broadway trade? I keep reading about all of the rush sales, that so many people show up and get orchestra seats for basically TDF prices. Does this show already have a lot of unsold seats?

How close to TDF prices are you hearing?

Isn't a.m. rush at the Winter Garden $49? That's what I read at BWW. 50-100 every day. That's a lot of rush.

50-100 means those that hope to get a rush ticket. That is not the amount given out. People can get what's being offered. Some times only 12 tickets are available to rush. If the first 6 people are able to get 2 seats each then only six on the line will get rush. No guarantee a rush line will get you in even arriving at 5 a.m. for the 10:00 a.m. box office opening.
