I sure hope you're right. In most ways it was a wonderful production of an extraordinary and unique musical that doesn't get nearly enough acclaim or exposure. I wish Roundabout had run it longer, but I truly hope the production, cast, and glowing reviews (unlike any of the other revivals... Funny Girl's broadway version still to be seen) are remembered at Tony time.
And unlike Company, Music Man, and Funny Girl... Caroline or Change has never had its due, in awards or run originally in 2004, or in the musical theater canon. It'll never be as popular to see or produce as any of those 3, but it deserves some official recognition from the mainstream powers that be, especially with such a strong revival production. |
