| He's not really a big star, but he has done quite a few films, and he actually has a terrific voice, more than needed for Harold Hill -- but I think James Marsden would be excellent. He's played some scoundrels as well as good guys in his films. He was terrific in the movie "Hairspray" as Corny Collins, and I would have liked to have seen him do more in the way of musicals. Or Jeremy Northam, so wonderful in "Gosford Park" as Ivor Novello, who did a very creditable job as American Dean Martin in a tv movie some years ago as well as capable of playing villainous characters. |
