| Inside the Lyric Theatre, they had tried to recreate the atmosphere of an English boarding school. As a survivor of such an establishment, I can tell you they did a grand job emulating the most sadistic aspects of such institutions. The trouble started when one of our party bought water and a couple of beers for the group. With not much change for $100 for this pleasure, we took our seats. All through the auditorium prefects marched around with signs saying, “Masks Up.” We were in the welcoming arms of the Ambassadors Theatre Group. |

| Given the horrific death toll here, people are astonishingly lax when it comes to wearing masks in theatres (and in shops, and on trains, and just about everywhere else). Although it is no longer the law, managements are entitled to impose mask mandates on provate premises if they choose, and I'd much prefer it if they did. At the moment, anyone who refuses to wear a face covering in an indoor public space, or complains about having to do so, is simply too selfish and stupid to be out among grown-ups. |

| "This isn't the show we need" says the article, but he barely writes about the show. And yet it's as if he's trying to blame "the show" for his Brett Kavanaugh-like need for beer during the performance? Meh. |

| The writer of this NYPost essay is obviously a jerk. The ushers in theaters have been great. I noticed in "The Music Man" recently that ushers had to repeatedly tell someone in the front row to pull up his or her mask. But the ushers were very respectful, very unobtrusive. Nothing like the behavior this NYP jerk seems to have observed. Also, why should anyone be drinking or eating in the theater? The Broadway theaters should not allow it. The Met Opera does not allow it. | |

| Bway wants to allow eating and drinking so theaters can sell food and drinks. It's a circus, afterall. | |

| At "Company" last weekend we saw several young men in the first or second row thrown out of the theater at the end of the first act for not wearing masks properly after repeated warnings, both from ushers and from neighboring audience members. As some otherwise hesitant people have bought tickets only because of the promise that all their neighbors will be masked, that rule needs to be enforced. | |

| I mean, it's the Post, but a lot of this is fake news. If you look outside, at least on the Upper West Side, a lot of people are still waring masks outside. We aren't back to normal. | |

| Something about sitting and trying to enjoy a show while having ushers walking up and down the aisle yelling at people over face masks, whether warranted or not, sounds like a great evening of theater. | |

| If people would simply keep their masks on, ushers wouldn't need to do that. | |

| I doubt covid will be eradicated. It will be like the flu with spikes. I do wonder if masking at theater will ever end unless ventilation is improved. It’s probably one of the few places that I like masking now. I don’t mask outside and I go to movies with sparse audiences and eat indoors without masks. The plane is a pain because of the length of flights and some don’t even have individual vents to have filtered air flowing. | |

| Nope, it is not going to go away - it's a disease that is going to be here to stay. And it's going to have to be something that people are just going to have to figure out and move on with it. And it's something that will continue to be politicized to the extreme which, depending on how things go in the fall and in 2024, will greatly affect how people "figure out and move on with it," if you get my drift. |

| It’s a rather brilliant piece of hysteria, since it leaves unwritten exactly how much time this party of anti-maskers left between drinking and masking. Was Libby being hyper-vigilant by not allowing them two seconds unmasked, or were these entitled expletives casually sipping with their masks off for minutes at a time? My guess is the latter, but we’ll never know. |

| [We] decided it might be a good idea to do that regrettable thing and ask to speak with the manager. Review by Karen. How DARE they enforce that thing that they repeatedly told us in advance they would enforce! |

| The real issue here is the sale of beverages and allowing them to be brought to seats in close proximity of others during a health crisis. Yes I realize it is lost revenue but the health of staff and audience should be of paramount importance. If you don't give the babies their bottles to begin with then you won't have this kind of problem. | |

| Bravo to the staff; sure hope masks will continue to be required in theatres way past April if there is an iota of possibility of another spike. Am still not ready to be without a mask in any indoor setting with people (no matter how large the crowd) & questionable ventilation . | |
