David Yazbek-Itamar Moses DEAD OUTLAW at 54Below

David Yazbek just announced a second night (March 18) for his debut of songs from the show he and Itamar Moses have been working on, DEAD OUTLAW. This is the story of a bank and train robber, Elmer McCurdy, who was killed in 1911. His embalmed corpse then spent decades touring in side shows, vaudeville, and “museums of crime.” I have no idea how far Yazbek is going with Elmer’s tale, but how his corpse—anonymous until the 1970s—was discovered and re-indentified is a tale in itself. Apparently, Yazbek and Moses have a narrative and fourteen songs, which he threatens his “very loud band” will play.

I have done a ton of vaudeville and circus research, including stuff like Elmer’s story, so if anyone is going to either of the DEAD OUTLAW shows, please please please report back here.
