| Your statement is likely true but it does not address the original question. There is not a market sufficient to fill the theatre without regard to what critics think or any other factor. If one person does not buy tickets, the production is "hurt." If one person won't pay as much, the production is hurt. It is dead wrong to say that the producers don't care about middle class NYC audiences. Only an idiot doesn't care about every fucking seat in the house. It is producing 101. Can Jackman sustain a decent box office for his duration in the show? Yes. Will the show survive long without him? Maybe. Doubtful. Do the producers realize that? Yep. Are sales right now far too soft for a show structured on this model. Definitely. | |

| To your point, a pal was so excited about this production, he bought pairs to see it several times over the run. He has since returned them. He didn’t dislike it as much as I did, but he was definitely in the “once was enough” camp. He must have seen the Dolly revival 10 times. | |

| Returning tickets to a show you’ve seen once and don’t want to see again = No love for theater? Come on, dude, that’s extreme. |

| I can’t tell if you’re being serious or sarcastic, but holy smokes, the theater is his life. Dramas, comedies, musicals, avant-grade. He’s easily a once-a-weeker. He adored Dolly, can wax poetic on the different actresses who played her, and each of their strengths and choices in the role. Don’t ask him about the original production of Follies, unless you have an evening to spare. The Music Man is one of his favorites, to be sure. The last revival he raved and raved. So, that he’s calling it quits on this one after one viewing is … remarkable. |

| It's now becoming a status symbol in saying enough is enough. Let Linda & Joe, who own a car dealership in Wyoming go to this show. They sound like folk that like to sing along with the actors on stage. Just another show where electric shock wires are attached to seats. Those standing ovations are now mandatory everywhere. | |

| I was being serious. I love people who love theater. Hearing about someone buying several pairs of tickets throughout the run of the show before it starts is so sweet. Especially that he went to Dolly 10 times. I want to have dinner with him to hear about Follies. I love The Music Man too and I'm torn. I definitely wanted to see the show before the reviews came out but it was because I was curious about Sutton's Marian. While the reviews have turned me off to the show, a lot of the reviews seem to like her which makes me think maybe I should still see it. But only through Rush seats. | |

| He would tell you she’s a treat. But the evening suffers from not having a true soprano, particularly on “Til There Was You.” | |

| I was hoping Sutton had a true soprano in her. If not, less interested. Was willing to get up at 5am for tix. Maybe not now. | |

| I’ve seen it. Don’t. Get your rest. You’ll get more out of it. It is an especially frustrating mess because it didn’t need to be this way. A wild disappointment and misfire. | |

| “Can Jackman sustain a decent box office for his duration in the show? Yes. Will the show survive long without him? Maybe. Doubtful. Do the producers realize that? Yep. Are sales right now far too soft for a show structured on this model. Definitely.” The best appraisal of the odds and unknowns I’ve read. |
