Maybe unpopular opinion: I bet it would've been a bigger hit if Scott Rudin had been able to finish the job of producing it. He never would've allowed Hugh Jackman to give understated performance that he is being criticized for. Scott was always hands on like that.

Would he have allowed the ridiculous, unnecessary and completely out-of-place tap number? It just stinks of Jackman’s ego. It just doesn’t belong there. And, for the 412th time, can someone tell me why they cut the chestnut that is “It’s You”?

Everything the critics busted TMM for was acknowledged multiple times on multiple boards (including this one) for WEEKS before opening. They chose to largely ignore the feedback. This entire mess shouldn’t have been a mess at all. It’s extremely frustrating because it’s one of my favorites and now we’re gonna have to wait decades for a proper revival.
